Post Malone - I Like You (Ft. Doja Cat)

A visual exploration of love’s artfully intoxicating qualities.

The film for “I Like You” will follow a paint-splattered Post Malone, as he completes a near-perfect masterpiece.

Cut aways reveal scenes of edgy lovers, set against grounded backdrops, expressing themselves and connecting with one another.

This is a film about the mystifying beauty inherent to all forms of love. Self-love, shared love, familial love, our canvas touches it all with vibrant color and rich abstraction.

Tone

Blissful, trancelike, and transformative.

A grounded surrealist art film created from pure positive intention. The meaning of love is shown in abstract visual metaphors. We’ll capture our cast exploring all the ways love touches their lives.

Concept

We open on a POV of a paint-splattered Post Malone, silhouetted against the sunrise on a grassy hill as he works at his easel.

He’s painting a radiant landscape. A flowering field, with a beautiful woman blissfully running through the bloom, Doja Cat.

As his brush meets the canvas, we cut to artfully self-contained vignettes that gradually build up in joyfully depicted expressionism.

Here’s a few examples of some things we’ll see: :

A person placing a music tape inside their mind.

Imperfect Cupids with beautiful angel wings

An interesting-looking person, stands before a mirror, cheerfully putting on clothes and make-up until they’ve transformed into a fully actualized version of their most self-loving self.

Ladybugs mate in the shade of flowering shrubbery.

A woman lovingly pouring honey over a man’s face. She goes to lick it off, he laughs and smiles.

We return to an image of Post completing his masterpiece. As he puts on the finishing touch, watercolors bleed through into the space around him, bringing him into a dream world of light and love.

The painting has come to life.

We cut to:

Lovers separated by plastic globes similar to bubble boy. They ecstatically try to break through to connect with each other.

Inside a car, we see young lovers press their bodies up against fogged windows.

While all this is occurring Post gets lost in his art, he goes into a trance-like state. We see Doja running free through a flowering field.

As the song comes to an end, we revisit our montage of lovers, now finding Post and Doja together in their dream world. We see a montage of them being with each other in this moment of bliss.
